Abstract

696,836. Hose couplings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Nov. 26, 1951 [Jan. 2, 1951]. No. 116/51. Class 99 (i). In a hose end fitting of the kind in which the hose end is gripped between a sleeve 7 and insert 10, a resilient rubber &c. sealing sleeve 15 is provided which makes sealing contact with the hose, and is bonded or otherwise fluid-tightly secured to the end of the insert. The sleeve 15 is initially of the form shown in Fig. 2, and is bonded to the conical mouth 15 a of the insert, which tapers to a sharp edge 14. The surface 15c of the sleeve 15 may be of the same length as the conical surface 6 of a recess formed in the hose end, or it may be slightly shorter. The bared reinforcement 2a of the hose is gripped between adjacent surfaces 9, 12 of sleeve and insert. Specifications 511,552, [Group XIII], and 581,180 are referred to.
