Abstract

773,001. Hose couplings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Nov. 23, 1955 .[Jan. 4, 1955], No. 157/55. Class 99(1) An end fitting for a rubber or like resilient hose 1 comprises an insert 4 fitting within the bore of the hose and having an annular axial projection 9 adapted to indent, without piercing, the end of the hose to provide a fluid-tight seal therewith, and an external sleeve 12 adapted to be contracted to compress the hose against the insert. The hose is provided with a metal braid reinforcement 2 a portion 11 of which is bared and clamped between the sleeve 12 and insert 4. An annular, projection 8 indents the inner surface of the hose. The projection 9 is wedge-shaped and extends for about 0.15 inches in the axial direction.
