642,298. Drill-pipe wipers. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Sept. 22,1948, No. 24761. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1947. [Class 85] A drill-pipe wiper 10 comprises an elastic soft rubber portion having a central passage 14 therethrough for the pipe 11, the passage 14 terminating at each end in relatively thin lips 20, having rounded outside edges 23 and sharp inside edges 24, whilst between these lips is a cavity 21 in which is entrained thin drilling mud for lubricating the passage of the pipe through the wiper.
