Abstract

1384374 Closure member MARLEY TILE CO Ltd 22 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 7977/71 Heading A5G [Also in Divisions E1 and F2] A closure member 1 for the access pipe at a rodding point of an underground drain has two openings 6, 7 one of which, 6, is provided with resiliently flexible sealing means 9 to receive a rod 10 and the other, 7, includes means 11 for the connection of a smoke and/or air supply line thereto to test the drain. As shown, the closure member is a plug which is inserted into the end of the access pipe and sealed therewith by a 'butyl rubber seal 5. The sealing means 9 may be a grommet, also of butyl rubber. A supply line carrying smoke or air to test the drain is connected to the connector 11 which is a screw-threaded brass sleeve with seals 12, 13. Testing apparatus which may be used in conjunction with the closure member includes a continuous, hollow, flexible rod 19 carrying an inflatable drain plug 20 and hand-operable bellows 21, a manometer 22 and further bellows 23 for pumping air and/or smoke into the. access pipe 15. The closure member may be of moulded plastics and includes a handle 8. [GB1384374A]
