Abstract

811,301. Hose pipes: hose couplings. ELECTROLUX Ltd. June 15, 1955 [June 16, 1954], No. 17192/55. Classes 99(1) and 99(2). A flexible hose for delivering air under pressure and used in combination with a vacuum cleaner 10 has a wall thickness not exceeding 0À2 mm. and is formed of a substantially non- distensible material inherently incapable of being self-sustaining with that wall thickness. As shown, the hose 13 of polyethylene is at one end thereof gripped between the cooperating conical surfaces 21, 19 of a ring 20 and a collar 18 of a coupling member 14 provided with an external screw-thread 17 so that the member can be screwed into the end of the vacuum cleaner 10; the other end of the hose is gripped between the conical surfaces 23, 25 of a tapered sleeve 22 and a ring 24 respectively, the sleeve being adapted to be connected, for example, to a paint sprayer 16.
