Abstract

982,951. Telescopic pipes; pipe joints. E. FABER, R. D. HAHN, H. HAHN, and E. WORWAG, [trading as MAUZ & PFEIFFER]. Feb. 12, 1962 [Feb. 23, 1961], No. 5213/62. Headings F2G and F2P. A conduit device for use with a vacuum cleaner comprises a rigid suction tube 4, a tubular member 2 and a flexible suction hose 3 connecting the tube 4 to the member 2. The rigid tube 4 and suction hose 3 are arranged telescopically and so as not to be completely separable. The part of the conduit device enumerated above have sealing faces for mutual engagement when fully extended (Fig. 3), and other sealing faces for mutual engagement when fully contracted (Fig. 2). In the construction shown the sealing faces are of conical form. A leaf spring 8 and a member 9 lock the parts 2, 3, 4 relative to each other. In a further embodiment the hose 3 is slidably mounted within the tube 4 (Figs. 4, 5, not shown).
