Abstract

696,153. Magnets. ROBERTSHAW-FUL. TON CONTROLS CO. March 6, 1951, No. 5414/51. Class 35. [Also in Groups XI and XXIX] In a control apparatus for a fluid fuel burner (see Group XI), the outlet 60 of a valve chamber 58 is closed by a steel ball 62 which is raised by a permanent horse-shoe magnet 54 only when a plate 56 of Curie point metal extending across the poles of the magnet is heated by a pilot burner 64 to a temperature at which it is substantially non-magnetic and no longer shields the ball from the magnet. Alternatively the magnet casing may be made of Curie point metal and the plate 56 of non-magnetic material.
