Abstract
662,325. Cupola furnaces. FISCHER AKT.- GES., G. Dec. 6, 1949 [Dev. 9, 1948], No. 31297/49. Class 51 (ii). The upper part of a cupola furnace of the type supplied with heated blast is narrowed and formed of iron blocks 4 with blocks 5 of highly refractory material in the lower part of this section to guard against scaling, and four offtakes 7 for waste gases lead into an annular main 8 from which the gases pass into a regenerator. The off-takes 7 are disposed as shown immediately below the narrow portion of the shaft in a symmetrical fashion and their mouths slope obliquely upwards to prevent obstruction by charge material.
