Abstract

695,855. Shaft seals. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Feb. 29, 1952 [March 26, 1951], No. 5344/52. Class 122(v) A rotary shaft bearing assembly seal comprises an annular member 8 of resilient material having a hub 9 adapted to engage the shaft and a radial flange 11, the hub having an axially tapered bore 10 whereby, when the hub engages the shaft, the flange is slightly -cupped and its outer periphery engages a stationary part of the bearing assembly. The flange 11 is tapered radially towards its outer periphery.
