Abstract

695,757. Cutting film-like materials. CELLOPHANE SOC. ANON. June 21, 1951. [July 11, 1950] No. 14794/51. Class 31 (i). In a method of cutting or notching paper, film, or other thin material, the material is passed over a roller of softer metal than that of the knife carried by a co-acting roller, the two rollers being interconnected so as to be counterdriven at predetermined speeds. The edges of a film are notched by means of a knife 14, Fig. 2, mounted on a roller 15 co-acting with a roller 16 of relatively soft metal. The roller 16 is mounted in resilient bearings or is adjustable bv means of a micrometer screw. In a modification, the material is cut transversely of its length by means of a knife 20 of helical form mounted on a roller 21 co-acting with a roller 22. The knife may be disposed parallel to the shaft of the roller 21.
