[Also in Group XVII] Window openings are cut in a web 1 of envelope material (see Group XVII) by first making incisions in the web in the direction of movement A by a revolving pair of spaced knives 3, 4 co-operating with a counter roller 5, and then at right-angles by two knives 10, 11 consecutively mounted on a revolving roller 16 co-operating with a stationary shear knife 12. The lateral and circumferential spacing of the knives 3 and 4, 10 and 11 respectively may be adjusted.
