695,455. Weighing apparatus. KERR, J., and SOUTHERN ENGINEERING CO. (PLASTICS), Ltd. May 25, 1951 [March 27, 1950; Dec. 9, 1950]. Nos. 7554/50 and 30175/50. Class 143. A spring counterbalanced household scale adapted for wall mounting has a weigh pan k which forms a cover for the indicators d', e' when in its stowed position as shown. During weighing the projection k' on the pan fits into a dished plate d' on a column d. A pair of links b', b<SP>2</SP> guide this column when it moves under load against the action of a spring c which has a zeroizing anchor c<SP>1</SP>, and the displacement of the column is transmitted through a rod d' to a rectilinear major order weight indicator d<SP>3</SP>, and through a rack e<SP>2</SP> and gears e<SP>4</SP>, e<SP>5</SP> to a rotary minor order weight indicator e'. The indicator d' is connected to a rod d' which is guided in fixed bushes d<SP>8</SP>, d<SP>9</SP>; a lost motion connection between rod d' and column extension b' being provided to allow for the slight horizontal movement of the column. The casing, pan and dished plate d' may be made from a thermosetting plastic material.
