[Class 143] The goods pan of a spring-balance is adapted to be turned from its normal horizontal position of use to a vertical position in which it fits compactly against the balance casing. The pan x is carried by a pan casing b hinged at d to a pair of arms c projecting from the balance casing a. The arms c form part of a frame adapted to move downwardly between supporting rollers j or against the action of spring resistants f when the pan is loaded. The movement is transmitted through a rack and pinion n, o to an indicator dial k. The pan is shown in its position of use from which it can be swung upwardly, about the pivots d, to an out-of-use position in which the rim of the pan casing b fits against the periphery of the balance casing a which is circular. Lugs r on the casing enable it to be secured to a wall. The spring tension is adjustable by means of a screw h.
