In an analytical balance swinging of each pan 1 is inhibited by a pin 3 which is freely mounted within an aperture 2a in the pan support 2, and which engages a vertically adjustable plate 4 when it has been moved to its upper position by a cam 7. Pin 3 is retained in aperture 2a by a shoulder 2b and circlip 8. The plate supporting stem 4a is provided with an adjustment screw 4b.
