Abstract

732,744. Weighing apparatus. GIARDINO, L., and FAENZA, V. June 4, 1953 [June 4, 1952], No. 15496/53. Class 143. [Also in Group XXXVIII] A spring balance comprises a weighing platform 11 on one of two rigid members 2, each supported by flexible springs 3, 4 attached to a support 1. The system is damped by a dash-pot 5 and has a natural period of oscillation of about 0.1 second. The displacement of member 2 due to the load is measured by determining the variation of capacitance 6, 7. Disturbance from the support 1 is thus eliminated. Zero adjustment is provided by spring 8, and sensitivity adjustment by spring 10. The apparatus is stated to be capable of 3,000 weighings per hour, and the variations in capacitance can be recorded or used to operate mechanism for rejecting articles outside defined tolerances.
