Abstract

793,272. Weighing apparatus. ETABLISSEMENTS BRETTON. Dec. 14, 1955 [Dec. 15, 1954], No. 35949/55. Class 143 Apparatus for indicating the weight of gas in a compressed gas bottle, in which one side of the base of the bottle rests on the ground and the other side 42 is supported by a pivoted platform 5 supported by counterbalancing springs 3, 4 (Fig. 5) within a casing 2, is characterized in that means are provided for counteracting friction arising from the difference in the respective radii of pivoting movement of the platform and the base of the bottle. As shown in Fig. 3 this means comprises a pin and slot connection 15, 16 between the platform and base 1, but according to various modifications (Figs. 6, 8, and 10- 14 not shown) a number of other means are shown for providing freedom in this pivot. In the embodiments illustrated in Figs. 7 and 9 (not shown) the pivot 15 is fixed but a sliding connection is provided between the bottle side 42 and the platform. The inclination of the platform, which is a function of the weight of the bottle, is indicated by a pointer 9 connected to the base by a spring 44 and provided with a nose 43 bearing on the upper face of the platform. This pointer moves over a scale 6 which is angularly adjustable for taring purposes. The bottle side 42 is supported on platform 5 by upstanding lugs 10, 12 arranged in a triangular formation on the platform in such a manner that they accurately locate bottle bases of both the straight and inwardly rolled types.
