Abstract
694,416. Multiple-beat lift valves. FISHER GOVERNOR, CO., Ltd. April 28, 1952 [April 28, 1951], No. 10705/52. Class 135 In a double-beat lift valve, the dumbbell obturating member comprises closure elements 48a, 48b provided with plug-like tapering extensions 48c, 48d, respectively, and, while each extension fits closely adjacent the closure member in the corresponding port, the extension, 48c as shown, on that closure element which the pressure fluid tends to lift from its seating is of greater length than the other. Extension 48c is cylindrical over the first part of its length and the degree of its subsequent taper is greater than that of extension 48d. The internal diameter of seat 20a is larger than that of seat 20b to allow of withdrawal of the obturating member. The actuating spindle 50 passes out of the casing through a packing sleeve 40 held in by a threaded cap 42 and an insert 44. The obturating member is hollow and provided with vent openings, such as 48g, to support a core in the cavity when the member is being cast.
