Abstract

1,012,101. Valves. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Aug. 20, 1964 [Aug. 20, 1963], No. 32884/63. Heading F2V. Fluid flow from an inlet 15 to an outlet annulus 12 is controlled by a loose stainless-steel ball 23 in a conical seat 16 forming part of the inlet 15. The ball is forced on to its seat against the inlet pressure by a cylindrical plug 25 through a resilient tantalum diaphragm, the periphery of which co-operates with two annular sealing- projections 19 on the body; the plug and diaphragm embody a recess 25a and a dimple 18a, respectively, for engaging the ball. The plug 25 may be omitted, the valve then being actuated by fluid applied to the diaphragm under the control of a pilot valve, not shown.
