Abstract

1,117,940. Valves. J. R. BROWN. 20 July, 1965 [20 July, 1964], No. 30911/65. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a housing 10 having an inlet 12, outlet 14, a resilient tubular valve member 16 normally engaging the interior of the housing to obturate the outlet, and a stem 18 slidable within the valve member to extend the latter and thereby provide an annular flow passage from inlet to outlet. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 (not shown) the valve member does not engage the interior of the housing but is provided with a head (26) which co-operates with a seat (24) at the inlet. In Fig. 5 (not shown) only an enlarged end-portion (28) of the valve member engages the interior of the housing. The inlet may also enter radially through the wall of the housing.
