Abstract
693,479. Land mines. SORLINI, R. Dec. 17, 1951, No. 29495/51. Classes 9(i) and 9(ii) The land mine shown in Fig. 1 has a body 1 enclosing an explosive charge 2 and closed by a cap 3 into which is screwed a sleeve 4. Rotatably and slidably mounted in the sleeve is a bush 5 whose movement is limited by a collar 6. Within the bush is a tubular member 10 with slots, the inner end rendering it expandable. A radial aperture in the member 10 contains a ball or balls 12' engaging a striker-pin 13 spring-pressed towards a percussion cap 18. A member 19 holds the cap at the end of a hollow shaft 16 with radial openings 17. The shaft 16 terminates in.a conical portion 15 by which the mine is fixed in the ground. By attaching a wire to a removable arm 20 the bush may be turned from a remote point. Upon withdrawing a safety pin 21, pressure on the bush 5 will rupture a disc 22 and bring an opening 7 into alignment with the ball/or balls 12 to release 'the striker pin. A pull on the bush 5 will also release the striker, by bringing an opening 8 into alignment with the balls 12. Also if the bush is rotated one or other of slots 9, Fig. 3, will be brought into alignment with the balls 12 to release the striker. The mine may also be exploded by surrounding the bush 5 by a cap 24 enclosing the semi-spherical end 26 of a rod 25, Fig. 7. Should the rod be deflected, the bush 5 will be depressed and the mine exploded. The mine may be made at least in part of non-magnetic materials.
