813,360. Igniters for signal flares. SCHERMULY PISTOL ROCKET APPARATUS Ltd. Jan. 29, 1958 [Jan. 31, 1957], No. 3377/57. Classes 9(1) and 9(2) Ignition mechanism for flares comprises a cylindrical body 1 having a closed end 2 perforated to house a percussion cap 10 and carrying spaced parallel w e b s 4 through which extends a screw 8 carrying a spring-stressed arm 6 integral with a firing pin 5. The arm 6 is held at safe by an arcuate stop 15 on the inside of a cap 13 rotatably mounted on the body 1. Rotation of the cap during transport is prevented by a safety pin 18 extending through aligned openings in the cap and webs. During assembly a tool may be passed through an opening 19 in the end 2 to hold the arm 6 away from the percussion cap 10, while the cap 13 is being placed on the body 1. The tool may be an internally threaded tube which engages a threaded extension 20 of the firing pin 5.
