Abstract

1,242,207. Piezo-electric generators. JUNKERS & CO. G.m.b.H. 30 Jan., 1970 [1 Feb., 1969], No. 4464/70. Heading H2A. A piezo-electric gas igniter has a pistolshaped housing 10 comprising two half-shells 101, 102, the piezo-electric unit 12, which includes an operating hammer 20, being secured in one half-shell and a reciprocable, spring loaded trigger grip 22 for operating the hammer being positioned between the two half shells which also clamp between them a barrel 27 having an electrode 28 at its outer end. The trigger has a hook-shaped tongue 24 which withdraws the hammer against a spring 21 as the trigger is depressed until a lug 126 on the wall of the unit 12 engages a cam surface on the tongue and disengages it from the hammer which then strikes a pin 19 in contact with the piezoelements 16. The high voltage generated is transmitted to the electrode 28 via a cable 30.
