Abstract

1,157,511. Piezo-electric igniters. JUNKERS & CO. G.m.b.H. 18 Aug., 1966 [21 Aug., 1965], No. 36966/66. Heading F4F. [Also in Division H2] A piezo-electric igniter comprises a push - button 4 which projects through an end wall of a cylindrical casing 1 and has diametrically opposed extensions 41 which pass through a casing partition 2 and abut a flange 61 of a percussion sleeve 6 supported by a spring 7, the piezo - electric element (not shown) being retained in a plastics body 9 rigidly fixed to the partition 2, and in said body 9 there being axially slidable a striking pin 8. When the push button is depressed against return spring 5, the extension 41 depresses sleeve 6 until oblique surfaces 43 of the extension cam on projections 14 formed on body 9 to force them outside flange 61. The sleeve 6 then slides over body 9 inside the extensions under the action of spring 7 and strikes pin 8 which in turn strikes the crystal. An H.T. lead from the crystal passes through a pin 15 projecting from body 9. The body 9 is provided with a holder 10 which has a bolt 12 passing through partition 2 on which is threaded a cap 13. 11 is a rubber sound-damping ring.
