Abstract

693,126. Endless conveyers. GREBE, K. Jan. 8, 1951. [Jan. 28, 1950] No. 553/51. Addition to 684,355. Class 78 (i). The conveyer of the parent Specification is modified in that some of the rollers of the trucks for preventing slewing or movement of the trucks normal to the supporting means are replaced by other means. Fig. 1 shows narrower trucks b having only three rollers each inserted between two trucks a having the full number, i.e five, necessary to prevent twisting and tipping. In Fig. 2 the two rollers normally used at one end of the truck are replaced by one roller and two slides c secured to the truck and bearing on the top flange of the supporting rail. In Fig. 3 the central pair of rollers on vertical axes is replaced by a ship-like slide d secured to the underside of the truck. In Figs. 5 and 6 the central pair of rollers is replaced by a single roller g and a projection f or f<SP>1</SP> at one end of the truck co-operating with a recess e or e<SP>1</SP> formed in the opposite end of an adjacent truck, the trucks being thus interlocked throughout the length of the conveyer. Such trucks may be driven, instead of by the lateral pairs of chains, by short chains coupling the projections and recesses. These projections and recesses may be replaced by clamps i welded to the undersides of the trucks, which may be driven directly, such clamps having an open end k co-operating with a closed end l of an adjacent truck, the end l having a bearing ring q<SP>1</SP> fitted within a spherical recess in it and mounted on a pin n passing through holes in the end k so as to form a universal joint for a limited movement. The single central roller remaining may be replaced by a roller g<SP>11</SP>, Fig. 11, mounted on vertical axis in a pierced bent lug formed in one end wall of the truck, and running on the vertical flange of the supporting track at that end, or alternatively may be mounted between the clamps and one end of the truck, Fig. 13, so as to run in a track r connected by brackets s to the supporting track at that end of the truck.
