Abstract

780,808. Endless conveyers. JONES, W. D. (Eickhoff Maschinenfabrik und Eisengiesserei Geb.). June 13, 1955 [June 7, 1954], No. 19846/54. Class 78 (1). In a conveyer comprising a succession of plates 1 carried by a pair of chains 2, each chain 2 is driven by pairs of dogs 16, 17 on an endless driving chain 5, which engage the bushes 4 of the chain 2, each dog being formed by one arm of a bell-crank lover pivoted on a link-pin 8 of the chain, the other arm of the lever being connected by a guide link 14 or 15 disposed within the chain circuit to an inwardly projecting lug 32 of a member 23 on the chain, so that the dogs are withdrawn at each end of their operative run. The dogs 16, 17 of a pair have their engaging faces 24 arranged in opposite directions to allow of the conveyer chain being driven in either direction, the dog which is not driving being spaced from the associated bush 4. The faces 24 are inclined slightly forwardly away from the driving chain 5. The chain 5 is formed by outer links 7 and inner links 9, alternate pairs of inner links being replaced by the members 23. The link-pins 8 are provided with rollers 10 running on tracks 11 and are prevented from rotating by flat bars 12 engaging slots in each pair of pins 8 embraced by an outer link on one side of the chain, the bars being held in place by split pins 13. Skids 31 are provided for supporting the return run of the conveyer plates.
