Abstract

592,358. Endless-belt conveyers. WELDALL & ASSEMBLY, Ltd., and CONACHER, H. H. Nov. 4, 1944, Nc. 21643. [Class 78(i)] A storage conveyer comprises an endless chain having links 1 of equal length, a four sided sprocket 5 at each end of the chain and a container 3 mounted on an extension of each alternate link so that each container is transferred from one guided straight run of the chain to the other every half revolution of the sprocket, means being provided whereby the sprocket positively engages the links of the chain or the pivot pins connecting such links to prevent slipping. As shown each alternate link has attached thereto a pair of arms 2 in triangular formation at the apex of which is suspended the container 3. As each container moves from one straight run of the chain to the other it moves further away from the adjacent container thus preventing fouling. The links are guided in a vertical path by means of rollers mounted on the pivot pins 7 of the links running in guides 8. As shown in Fig. 1, the sprocket transmits motion to the chain through teeth 5a which move relatively to the wheel in the manner described in Specification 589,494, [Group XXIV], and engage rollers 1a between the links. In a modification, Fig. 7, the links have projections 14 which engage recesses 15 in the sprockets.
