Abstract
690,380. Wave-guides. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 18, 1949 [Dec. 15, 1948], No. 32453/48. Class 40 (viii). A rotatable joint between two sections of wave-guide comprises an intermediate coaxial line section with a subdivided outer conductor and an inner conductor divided into two portions connected to one and the other of the wave-guides respectively so that the waveguides are relatively rotatable about their common axis. The ends of co-axial rectangular wave-guides 1, 2 extend into sleeves 7, 8 forming the outer conductor of a co-axial line. The ends of the inner conductor 4 are connected to the wave-guides by transformers of the type described in Specification 658,797. A quarter-wave pin 11 projecting into a half-wave recess 12 forms a rotatable joint in the inner conductor 4, while a half-wave cuff 9 projecting into a quarter-wave recess 10 forms a rotatable joint between the sleeves 7, 8. The cuff 9 is surrounded by a quarter-wave ditch.
