In a gas-scrubber of the type comprising a cylindrical shell 1 with a tangential gas inlet 2, a central spray pipe 6, and a gas outlet 3, a baffle 8 is arranged above the spraying space to ensure passage of the washed gases close to the shell as they enter the zone above the nozzles. A drain 9 is provided. An inlet 4 and valve 5 may be used to admit a second gas.
