Abstract

1,239,712. Electrostatic separators. P. G. VICARD. 29 Jan., 1970 [13 Feb., 1969; 24 March, 1969], No. 4274/70. Heading B2J. An electrostatic dust separator of the kind comprising an axial high-voltage electrode 8 disposed in a Venturi unit 1 so as to ionize the dust particles in the gas which flows through the unit is characterized in that an annular spraying nozzle 11 is provided which produces a spray of particles into the gas stream around a polarizing electrode 9, the particles attracting and retaining the ionized dust particles in suspension in the gas stream. An injector nozzle 2 provided with a butterfly valve 18 is disposed in front of the Venturi inlet 3 and an annular passage is left so that a portion of the gas issuing from the outlet of the Venturi unit is re-cycled into the Venturi inlet. In a modification an auxiliary Venturi unit is provided having its inlet connected with the outlet of the first Venturi unit 1 by a perforated zone the annular spraying nozzle being disposed within the auxiliary Venturi unit.
