Abstract
688,926. Two-part couplings; lamp-holders. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., JENKINS, H. G., and WOOLGAR, A. E. May 3, 1951 [May 24, 1950], No. 13057/50. Class 38 (i). An adaptor for enabling a bayonet plug, such as a lamp cap, to be fitted to a bi-pin socket comprises a hollow, metal cylinder 1 provided at one open end with bayonet slots 3 and being closed at the other end, which end is apertured for the passage of pins 8 supported in said apertures by insulating strips 5. The inner ends of the pins are riveted over to secure the strips 5 in position and fix to the pins spring blade contacts 10 for engaging the contacts of the bayonet plug. The cylinder 1 may be provided with an external annular groove near the closed end, Fig. 2 (not shown), to enable the adaptor to be used with a socket according to Specification 594,675, or the pins may have mushroom heads for co-operating with the contacts of a socket according to Specification 688,928, Fig. 3 (not shown).
