Abstract
688,037. Two-part couplings ; plug-boards. ELECTRIC & MUSCIAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 11, 1951 [Feb. 4, 1950], No. 2930/50. Class 38 (i). [Also in Group XXXV] A plug-board for enabling a mains transformer to be connected to the supply in any one of a plurality of different ways comprises a support 1 carrying a first set of contacts 2... 4 and a second set of (socket) contacts 6 ... 14, the latter set being accessible through holes in a cover-plate 18. A mask 19 is slidable on the support to permit a contact 23 carried thereby to selectively engage any one of the contacts 2.. 4 and at the same time uncover certain of the sockets 6... 14 to enable a plug 29 with bridged pins connected to one terminal 26 of the supply to be engaged therein. The other supply terminal 25 is connected to one end of the primary winding of the transformer which is formed in two parts, each with tappings, the parts and the tappings being connected to the sets of contacts, and according to the position of the mask, contacts of the second set may be engaged to connect said winding parts either in series or in parallel, or a portion of one part in series or in parallel with a portion of the other part, or a portion of one part in series with the whole of the other part.
