Abstract

687,939. Transferring vehicles between lift cages and tipplers. BARKER & SON ENGINEERS, Ltd., W. H., and BARKER, W. Oct. 30, 1950. [Nov. 18, 1949] No. 29524/49. Class 78 (iv). In the operation of the system illustrated a ram i pushes a loaded truck d (shown hatched) into a tippler c and an unloaded truck d (shown unhatched in Fig. 1) out of the tippler onto a transverser a. One of a pair of rams e then pushes an empty truck d (shown unhatched in Fig. 1) from a second transverser a into a cage at the upper end of a shaft b so delivering a full truck d (shown hatched in Fig. 1) over a track g to the vacated position between the ram i and the tippler c. Meanwhile one of a pair of rams f delivers an empty truck d from the transverser a to a track h from the other end of which an empty truck d is pushed onto the second traverser a. Then, as the cages are wound and the tippler operated, the traversers are moved to the position illustrated in Fig. 3, so that by a similar sequence of operations, the loaded truck in the other cage may be replaced by an unloaded truck and the unloaded truck in the tippler replaced by a loaded truck, the trucks on the track shown at the left of the drawings being moved instead of those on the track at the right. The traversers are then returned to the position of Fig. 1 and the operations repeated.
