790,784. Turntables; transferring vehicles between pit cages and tipplers. BARKER & SONS ENGINEERS, Ltd., W. H. March 2, 1956 [March 24, 1955], No. 8567/55. Classes 78 (4) and 104 (2). A mining truck rail system in which an empty truck from a tippler is used to remove a full truck from a pit cage for delivery to the tippler includes three converging rail tracks situated at either or each side of a pit mouth and a turntable at the point of convergence, the turn-table being provided with tiltable rails for discharging the truck therefrom. An empty truck from a tippler e passes along track a to a turntable d. The turntable is then rotated to align with either track b or c leading to the pit mouth f and thereafter the rails i are tilted as by a jacking mechanism or a ramp whereby the truck is discharged to pass along the particular track b or c to a cage g at the pit mouth. The turntable has a buffer h for arresting the trucks. The turntable may be actuated. by an electric motor or by a fluid-operated ram. A similar set of tracks and a turntable may be positioned on the other side of the pit mouth for conveying loaded trucks to the tippler and may be used in addition to or alternatively to the other tracks and turntable.
