680,831. Rail-vehicle system for transferring goods between stations at different levels. HUBSCHER, H. Feb. 20, 1950. [Feb. 19, 1949] No. 4246/50. Classes 78 (iv) and 104 (ii). In a system for transporting goods by vehicle between stopping points on two or more rail tracks 4, 5 located at different levels and connected by a lift 16 containing part of a rail track 19, the rail tracks at the different levels each comprise two separate rail tracks 7, 8 and 9, 10 whose ends are joined by swing- around turntables 11, 12 and 13, 14 to transfer vehicles from one track to the other. The lift 16 may be provided with a turntable to enable trucks to be discharged onto a rail track 23 arranged transverse to the tracks 4, 5. The trucks 3, 21 and 22 are motor driven and if each rail is slightly inclined the system may be fitted with a rack drive. An inclined lift may be used.
