Class 20(1) [Also in Group XXX] A number of storage containers la ... 1#, 2a ... 2f, 3a ... 3f (Fig. 1) are provided with rollers 18 (Fig. 2) by which they can be moved on rails 13 in the rows 1, 2, 3 (Fig. 1) and can be moved out of the storage area on runways formed by rollers 19 (Fig. 2) disposed adjacent portions 21 of the rails 13 which are not notched or lowered. The storage units are connected during movement in the rows either directly to one another by hooks 7 (Fig. 1) or to extensions of the piston rods of rams 8, 9, 10 by which the storage units are moved in the rows. The rollers 19 (Fig. 2) may be rotated by wire ropes 23 wound on a drum 25 driven by a motor 24. Waisted rollers 20 serve as guides for the units. The arrangement may be used in conjunction with a multi-storey system provided with lifts joining the several floors. A central operating system may then provide for automatic control of all the movements required to move a selected platform into or from the storage area.
