Abstract

848,025. Garages. SPEED-PARK Inc. Dec. 17, 1957 [Dec. 24, 1956], No. 39257/57. Class 20(1) [Also in Group XXX] Objects are transferred on to or from a movable base 11 in a store or mechanical garage by transfer members comprising load-carrying tines 23, 23a attached to members 24, 24a movable so that the open ends of the tines project beyond edges 16, 17 respectively of the base and engage between slats A, Fig. 3, forming shelves on either side of the base 11, which base may be movable on rails 13 or may comprise the lift cage of a traversing elevator. The end tines 33, 23a are mounted on rollers engaging channels of I-beams 28, 28a, which beams are movable on rollers relatively to beams 25, 25a mounted on lifting jacks 27, 27a. Electric motors 35, 35a, Fig. 3, are mounted on brackets depending from beams 25, 25a, and drive pinions which engage racks on the underside of beams 28, 28a, the movement of these beams being doubled and transmitted to the tines by endless chains 45, 45a, Fig. 2, anchored to the beams 25, 25a, and to the tines 33, 23a. In use, the appropriate set of tines is raised above the other before being traversed at a level slightly higher than the slats A and then lowered to deposit the vehicle or other object on the shelf. In the case where the base 11 is on a lift cage, only one set of tines need be mounted on lifting jacks.
