Abstract

744,570. Decking apparatus for multi-deck pit cages. BARKER & SON ENGINEERS, Ltd., W. H. Sept. 24, 1954 [Nov. 25, 1953], No. 32688/53. Class 78 (4). Trucks are conveyed between multi-deck cages a at a pit-head b and a tippler i which receives the trucks singly, by a traverser c on which the trucks are received in-line and which tilts endwise to deliver the trucks, and are returned from the tippler to the cages by a hoist device k and a further tilting traverser m. In the two cage three-deck installation illustrated three full trucks d are pushed one by one onto the traverser c when emptied trucks e are pushed from a track f into a cage a by a ram p, and the traverser is then moved horizontally in the direction of the arrow g and tilted endwise to deliver the trucks to a track h from which they are delivered by a ram j to the tippler i. From the tippler i the trucks are delivered to the hoist platform k which is raised and tilted to deliver the trucks to the traverser m which is then moved in the direction of the arrow n and tilted to deliver the trucks to a track o for subsequent delivery to the other cage a, from which they push full trucks onto the traverser c. These latter trucks, after emptying, are returned to the track. The apparatus may be suitably duplicated where more than one pitshaft serves a single tippler.
