Abstract
762,377. Endless conveyers. PRESTON & DISTRICT FARMERS TRADING SOCIETY, Ltd., and JONES, N. Jan. 19, 1955 [Nov. 16, 1953], No. 31669/53. Class 78 (1). A conveyer for raising or lowering goods from one level to another comprises pivotally mounted platforms adapted to lie substantially at right angles to the conveyer, each platform having an extension member adapted to ride along a track on or forming part of the conveyer framework, one or more portions of the track being displaceable whereby when an extension member arrives at a displaced portion of the track the platform swings downwardly to a discharge position. The Figures show a conveyer for raising or lowering packages from one floor 1 to another. The packages are supported on platforms each comprising arms 23 mounted on a rod 21 supported at its ends on brackets 15 secured to endless chains 13. These latter run in channels 11 in members 9 secured to the walls 5 of a channel-shaped ramp 7. The end arms 23 of each platform have extension arms 25 with rollers 27 which, when the platform is in its load-supporting position, bear against the base of the ramp. A hinged platform 29 is provided at each floor level having fingers (not shown) at its free end adapted to engage between the arms 23 of the conveyer platform. Adjacent each platform 29 in line with the arms 25 are hinged members 31 which are either locked in position to form a continuous surface with the base of the ramp 7 or are swung away so as to leave a gap in the ramp coinciding with the path of the rollers 27. The hinged members 29, 31 may be remote controlled whereby an operator may determine on which floors packages are to be delivered. When a package is placed on a platform and the chains 13 driven so as to raise or lower it, the rollers run on the base of the ramp. At the desired floor level, the platform 29 is in position and the members 31 are released to provide gaps. When the rollers 27 coincide with these gaps, they swing rearwardly and the platforms swing downwards to allow the package to fall on to the platform 29.
