Discharging and feeding devices for endless belt and chain conveyers and elevators; flat endless-belt conveyers; endless belt and chainelevators with shelf carriers.-During the transfer of a load from one convever to another moving transversely thereto, the latter is moved in the same direction and at the same rate as the former. The invention is described as applied to the transfer of trays between a vertical elevator and a conveyer moving approximately horizon. tally. The elevator comprises two pairs of endless chains or belts 1 carrying platforms 6 which lift the trays 7 from the feeding conveyer 8. The conveyer 10 is pivoted at the end remote from the elevator and at the other is supported by a rod 17 having at its lower end a roller 16 which bears on a cam 13, adapted to raise the end of the conveyer 10 synchronously with the adjacent platform of the elevator during the transfer of a tray. The frame of the conveyer 10 is connected by linkwork 19, 20, 21, 22 to a horizontally movable pusher 25 having a vertical face 27 of sufficient length to remain in contact with a tray during the time the tray is being transferred. The cam is shaped to give a rapid downward movement to the conveyer. In a modification, a pusher 55, Fig. 5, is suspended by parallel links 56 one of which has a pin-and-slot connection with a crank 59 on a shaft 60 driven by the head shaft 52. A pinion 50 also driven by the head shaft meshes with an endless rack 54 from which the conveyer is suspended by a rod 53. When trays are to be transferred from a conveyer 29, Fig. 2, moved with the elevator as in Fig. 1, the belt 29 is provided with flights 33 curved backwards at their upper edges 34. The pusher can be dispensed with if the platforms 36, Fig. 3, are connected by a pivot 37 to one chain and by a pin-and-slot connection 38, 39 to the other, and are provided with a guide arm 40 carrying a roller 41 moving in contact with a guide rail 42 formed with a depression 43 or an elevation at the discharging point. In another modification the conveyer is lifted by mechanism actuated by the - elevator.
