Abstract

734,040. Transferring vehicles to and from pit cages. BARKER & SON ENGINEERS, Ltd., W. H. Dec. 10, 1953 [Dec. 30, 1952], No. 32951/52. Class 78 (4). Trucks are moved between pit cages and a loading or unloading position by two pairs of relatively movable traversers a, a<SP>1</SP>, b, b<SP>1</SP> situated on opposite sides of the pit shaft, one pair a, a<SP>1</SP> being associated with a pair of rams for moving tracks into the cages, and the other pair of traversers being associated with a single ram f for moving trucks to the loading or unloading position. In the pit-head system illustrated an empty truck g, Fig. 1, is pushed by the ram e into the left-hand cage and pushes a loaded truck h on to the traverser b while at the same time the ram f pushes a loaded truck h<SP>1</SP> from the traverser bl into a tippler d so that it pushes an emptied truck g<SP>1</SP> on to the traverser a<SP>1</SP>. The traversers are then moved to the position shown in Fig. 3 so that the emptied truck g<SP>1</SP> delivered from the tippler is in position to be pushed by a ram e<SP>1</SP> into the right-hand cage to displace a further loaded truck h on to the traverser b<SP>1</SP> while the loaded truck h previously delivered from the cage can be pushed from the traverser b into the tippler to push the now empty truck g on to the traverser a. The traversers are then moved back to the position shown in Fig. 1 and the cycle is repeated.
