Abstract
685,082. Pulverulent-fuel furnaces. CZECHOSLOVAK HEAVY ENGINEERING WORKS, and CERMAK, J. Aug. 24, 1950 [Aug. 24, 1949], No. 20938/ 50. Class 51 (i). In a pulverulent-fuel fired furnace the combustion chamber is of helical formation surrounded throughout its length by an enveloping jacket suitable for the preheating of the combustion air. As shown in Fig. 1 the combustion chamber 2 is of helical form, the surrounding air preheater jacket 5 being so arranged that air entering at 7 is fed to the chamber at its inlet through the ports 6. In the modification (Fig. 4) the walls of the chamber are formed by a tube bundle wound around a cone. The combustion air enters the tubes at 7 and is discharged into the chamber, after being preheated, through the ports 6. The air inlet ports 6 may be provided at several points throughout the length of the combustion chamber.
