Abstract

684,184. Magnetic amplifiers. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS, Ltd. Nov. 23, 1951 [Aug. 23, 1950], No. 20857/50. Class 40 (iv). A transductor has its A.C. load windings energized by D.C. pulses which are produced from a D.C. supply by a vibrator or a motordriven commutator. As shown, the load windings 3, 5 are connected in series with selfexcitation feed-back windings 15, 16 and a load 17 to a D.C. supply 13, pulsing being effected by a vibrator comprising an armature 8 and magnet 10. The transductor is provided with control and bias windings 4, 6; 20, 21 and may have additional load windings 25, 26 which are energized alternately with windings 3, 5 during the vibratory movements of armature 8. A condenser 24 effects current-smoothing in the load circuit, and a spark-quenching condenser 28 is connected across the vibrator contacts.
