663,753. Electromagnets. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 16, 1948 [June 18, 1947], No. 16230/48. Class 35. An A.C. electromagnet of the solenoid or the hinged armature type has its laminations secured together solely by a plurality of welds in grooves extending transversely across the lamination edges. Fig. 1 shows a laminated frame 1 within which an insulated coil-holder 8 with a flanged part 8b is fitted. A laminated plunger 4 slides in an aperture 3 provided in the frame 1 and in the coil-holder 8. The laminations of the frame and of the plunger are respectively held together by welds 11. An L-shaped base-plate 7 is rigidly connected to the frame by welds 13. The leads to the coil are connected to terminals 10 moulded into the coil-holder 8. Specification 663,737 is referred to.
