683,616. Valve accessories. SHEARDOWN, J. W. May 4, 1950 [May 4, 1949], No. 11893/49. Class 135. To enable a neat connection to be made between a water tap and a wall, tile or the like 12, a shield or rose member 10 is slidably arranged on a plain cylindrical part 9 disposed between the tap inlet connection 4 and the usual screw-threaded spigot 6 which is screwed into a threaded socket 7 on the service pipe, the plain cylindrical part 9 being constituted as an internally threaded sleeve adjustable on an externally threaded boss or flange 8 on the tap inlet. The edge of the aperture 11 in the shield 10 may be tapered or parallel to the surface of the sleeve 9. The shield and the socket may be secured in position by cement 13, the inner surface of the shield having lugs or projections 14 or being otherwise roughened to provide a good key. A hexagonal or similar part 5 is provided to facilitate the connection between the spigot 6 and the socket 7. A threaded flange 8 may be provided on either side of the part 5.
