[Class 135] [Also in Group XIII] A drain valve fitting for domestic hot-water cylinders, gas - fired boilers, and the like comprises a tubular member 1 externally screw threaded for connection to the cylinder 23 or the like, a valve member 8 co-operating with the outer end of the tubular member under the control of a thimble 11 screwed on the tubular member, and a sleeve 16 which has an outlet connection 21 for hose pipe 27 and is detachably fitted over the thimble 11 and secured by a set screw 18. The complementary surfaces of the thimble and sleeve may be 'cylindrical, or conical as shown. The thimble 11 is cut away at its outer end to form outlets 12 and a yoke 13 in which the valve stem 15 is guided. The valve 8 has a rubber disc 9 which seats against the end of the tubular member 1. The latter has an intermediate nut part 4 enabling it to be clamped to the cylinder 23 by a nut 24 and washers 25, 26. A siphon pipe 6 which may be angled as shown is loosely threaded into the tubular member 1 so that it occupies a pendent position after the fitting is clamped to the cylinder. The fitting may be mounted in any of the alternative positions shown in Fig. 8. It may be carried by an oval flange 28 in which an electric heater 29 and a thermostat 30 aro also mounted. The outlet connection 21 may be angled if desired.
