Abstract

682,011. Bobbins COURTAULDS, Ltd. Feb. 26, 1951 [Feb. 27, 1950], No. 4935/50. Class 120(iii) A bobbin for use on a spindle 5 with a tapered blade 4 comprises two gripping surfaces provided by rubber rings 6 and 9 held between bushes 7 and 10 of wood or plastic material and a plug 8 and a cork insert 11 which is tapered to accommodate with a press-fit a frustoconical part 13 of the driving whorl 12. The barrel 1 and flanges 2, 3 may be of wood or plastic material such as phenol-formaldehyde or cotton - filled phenol formaldehyde resin and the flanges may incorporate white spots to assist stroboscopic speed measurement.
