Abstract
836,997. Twisting rovings and yarns. LAMBERT, O. June 26, 1956 [July 19, 1955], No. 19803/56. Class 120(2) A spinning machine in which a yarn is wound on to a spindle by a cop builder having an internal substantially conical recess has the recess formed in a block mounted on a hollow shaft and provided with at least three equiangularly spaced radial slots communicating with the bore of the hollow shaft and with the conical recess. Rovings pass to the spindles 18 through the bore 5 and block 9, driven independently of the spindle. Radial slots 12 guide the roving which passes out over an annulus 22 and back through the same slot to the spindle 18. The annulus 22 is interchangeably held on the reciprocating sleeve 19. The lower end of the spindle 18 is held in a cone 30, Fig. 4, carried on a splined shaft 51 driven by a gear 25 and supported in a socket 40 slidable on a pedal lever 45 for release of the spindle 18 from the cone 30 for doffing. In another embodiment, not shown, the spherical bearing at the top of the spindle is replaced by a cylindrical bearing from which the spindle may slide for doffing. In this case, the bottom of the spindle is mounted in a universal joint.
