Abstract

700,752. Bobbins. KILBOURN MARTIN, Ltd., June 13, 1951 [Aug. 21, 1950], No. 20674/50. Class 120(3) A bobbin consists of a conical base and cylindrical upper portion in the form of a shell of non-brittle plastic such as a vinyl resin or an ethylene polymer, and a separately formed base member filling the bottom end of the conical part and from a central hole in which a spindle receiving tube extends axially within the shell. As shown, a unitary moulded shell 1 comprises yarn-gripping steps 4 and strengthening ribs 6 which support a steel tube 7: a base plate 9, which may be of a phenol-formaldehyde resin, is keyed into and secured to the shell 1 by keys 15 and screws 17 and comprises a hollow stub 11, which registers with or may fit within the tube 7, and a driving key-way 14.
