Abstract
662,584. Handles. BLUEMEL BROS., Ltd. Aug. 31, 1950 [July 20, 1949], No. 19066/49. Class 61 (i) In a cycle tyre inflator having a hollow handle 11 moulded in thermo-setting plastic material and wherein the boss 13 is provided with an integral downwardly extending sleeve 14 connected to the interior of the handle by radial ribs or formed solidly therewith, the upper end of the metal plunger tube 16 fits frictionally inside the sleeve and is held therein by peripheral projections 18. As shown in Fig. 1 the projections are pressed outwardly from the metal of the tube and forced into engagement with an annular recess 17 by means of a tool inserted into the upper end of the tube. The tube is additionally held by providing projections 22 for engagement with the lower end of the sleeve and by spinning the upper end outwardly over the end face of the handle as at 21. In a modification the interior of the sleeve is plain, the metal of the tube being forced outwardly at the projections 18 into the material of the sleeve and metal washers provided for engagement by the projections 22 and flanges 21.
