Abstract

882,341. Insoles for moulded footwear. SAUER, A. March 9, 1960 [March 10, 1959; Oct. 14, 1959], No. 8344/60. Class 17(2) [Also in Groups VIII and XVI] An insole 1, Figs. 1 and 2, is formed with grooves 2, 2a, in its upper surface 1b, in the bottom of which are perforations 3, 3a, of preferably conical section, passing through the insole and opening out on the lower surface 1c. The lower edge 4a of the upper 4 is folded under the insole 1, Fig. 3, and fastened so as to overlap the outer line of perforations 2, the perforations then being extended through the overlapping portion of the upper. A last or core 9 of suitable shape is inserted between the upper 4 and insole 1 so that, when moulding of a sole 5 takes place, the rubber or plastic material forming the sole runs up through the perforations and along the grooves to form a lattice of filaments securing the insole 1 and upper 4 to the sole 5. A tool fitted with projecting ribs and punches to form the grooves and perforations is used in a press to form the insole.
